In 1981 he was elected as Organ Scholar at Gonville and Caius College at Cambridge University where he completed his Masters degree in Music and studied organ with Nicolas Kynaston. In 1986 Timothy was appointed Assistant Master of the Music at Chelmsford Cathedral in Essex, England. He made two commercial recordings and several broadcasts for the BBC with the cathedral choir and his accompaniments were highly acclaimed. In 1991 he was appointed Organist and Master of the Choristers at St. Columbs Cathedral in Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
