Concert organist JONATHAN DIMMOCK is a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory, Yale School of Music and Yale Divinity School, and has held musical posts at Westminster Abbey (Organ Scholar), the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in New York City, and St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Minneapolis. He currently resides in San Francisco where he is the Director for Music Ministries at St. Ignatius Church, and the Organist at Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church, Temple Sherith Israel, and the San Francisco Symphony. Jonathan has an active career as an organ soloist, nationally and internationally, having made numerous solo tours on five continents. He has been interviewed and featured on National Public Radio, Radio France, BBC3, ABC (Australia), MTV2 (Budapest), and SABC (South Africa). His teachers and mentors include Jean Langlais, Naji Hakim, Frédéric Blanc (improvisation), Peter Hallock, Gillian Weir, Haskell Thomson, Thomas Murray, Harald Vogel, Paul Halley, and Simon Preston. He has recorded more than 25 CDs, with labels including Gothic, ReZound, Loft, Arkay, BCI Records, Time-Warner Recordings, and Koch International. His writings and music are published by Church Publishing, Inc., The Living Church, Assoc. of Anglican Musicians Journal, and Trinitas. He co-founded the acclaimed American Bach Soloists, and is the founding director of the professional choral ensemble, AVE (Artists’ Vocal Ensemble) which specializes in Tudor and Renaissance polyphony. Having first learned to perform jazz / New Age music with the Paul Winter Consort, he continues to enjoy many forms of music-making and performance from solo accompaniments to chamber music to modern combos. Jonathan is the founding president of the non-profit organization, Art to the Nations, using music in international conflict resolution.
