HANS U. HIELSCHER has served as Organist at the Marktkirche in Wiesbaden, Germany since 1979. From 1987-2004 he held the post of Municipal Organist at Kurhaus Concert Hall in Wiesbaden. Mr. Hielscher studied organ at the Detmold State Academy of Music, as well as in Paris and Rouen, France. He studied carillon at the Nederlandse Beiaardschool in Amersfoort in the Netherlands. Mr. Hielscher has given organ concert tours in every European country, the U.S.A. (39 tours), Bahamas, Israel, Iceland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Bangkok. He has appeared on both radio and television broadcasts, and has made 18 CD recordings on the Motette, Wergo, IFO, and Organophon labels. Mr. Hielscher is author of the books Alexandre Guilmant: Life and Work and Famous Organs in the U.S.A. He was honoured by the French government in Paris for his worldwide engagement in French organ music and nominated Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1985.
