| DR. JOANNA LEIGH ELLIOTT is a recitalist of international stature, appearing throughout the United States and Europe. Noted venues include the National Cathedral, Washington, D.C.; St. Patricks Cathedral, New York City; Trinity Church in the City of Boston; First Congregational Church, Los Angeles; and Christ Church Cathedral, Indianapolis. Joanna has also appeared in concert internationally at the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse, France, as well as Église de la Trinité in Paris. She has been a featured soloist for the Young Virtuosi Concert Series at Wesleyan University and at the Baylor University Organ Conference. Joanna also appeared under the auspices of the Dallas and Central Texas chapters of the American Guild of Organists on numerous occasions. Joanna began her organ studies under Philip Baker of Dallas, Texas. As a young recitalist she was named the winner of the TMTA (Texas Music Teachers Association) Post-Graduate Organ Competition, regional finalist in the American Guild of Organists Young Organists Competition, and national Finalist in the MTNA Collegiate Organ Competition. She received her Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Houston under the tutelage of Robert Bates. She also received a Master of Music in Organ Performance from Baylor University, studying with Joyce Jones. Joanna studied with a number of noted organ pedagogues over the years, including Siegbert Rampe, the late Michael Farris, Kiyo Watanabe, Dan Miller, Janette Fishell, Cherry Rhodes, and Jean Boyer in Haarlem, the Netherlands. Most notably, Joanna also spent a semester of study in Paris and Toulouse, France with Michel Bouvard, Naji Hakim, and Marie-Claire Alain. Joanna also is also an accomplished concert harpist, receiving her Master of Music in harp performance from Baylor University. Joanna currently serves as organist at Moody Methodist Church in Galveston, Texas. |
