The Confession of Saint Peter (January 18) is the beginning of the Octave of Prayer for Christian Unity, which ends eight days later with the Conversion of Saint Paul (January 25). The Sunday that falls within this week is traditionally a Sunday in which we, at Saint Thomas, invite a preacher from outside our church into the pulpit. In 2012, that preacher is The Rev'd Dr. Raymond Judd, Jr., Chaplain Emeritus of Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, who will preach on Sunday, January 22 at 11am and 4pm.

Almighty Father, who didst inspire Simon Peter, first among the apostles, to confess Jesus as Messiah and Son of the living God: Keep thy Church steadfast upon the rock of this faith, that in unity and peace we may proclaim the one truth and follow the one Lord, our Savior Jesus Christ; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
