MUSIC OF J.S. BACH: Benefit Concert for Victims of Japan's Tsunami and Hurricane Sandy

Tickets: $50 open seating in reserved front section or $20 open seating behind reserved section and in the balcony.  Available for purchase online or at the door for cash or check made out to Saint Thomas Church.  Doors open at 6:30 pm.

You may buy tickets online or purchase in person at 1 W. 53rd Street 11 am-5 pm Mon-Fri.  Tickets will also be sold at the door (cash only) after 6:30 pm on concert night.

Maestro Masaaki Suzuki, noted conductor and harpsichordist, winner of the 2012 Bach Leipzig award and recognized as a leading authority on the works of J.S. Bach, will conduct Bach Collegium Japan, one of the world’s leading baroque orchestras with chamber choir, and the Yale Institute of Music chamber choir, Yale Schola Cantorum, in a performance of two Bach Motets: Komm, Jesu Komm and Jesu meine Freude.¬†Masato Suzuki will conduct Bach Collegium Japan in the NY premiere of his composition De Profundis ‚Äì an a cappella setting of Psalm 130 in Latin and Japanese.

John Scott, Organist and Director of Music at Saint Thomas Church, will perform Bach organ chorales: Kyrie, Gott Vater; Christe, aller Welt Trost; Wenn wir in höchsten Nöthen sein; and Kyrie, Gott, heiliger Geist.

Proceeds will go to help the victims of Japan’s tsunami and Hurricane Sandy via official non-profit agencies providing disaster relief in the hardest hit regions of Japan and the New York area.
