Festal Evensong
Sunday January 24, 2010
4:00 pm - Saint Thomas Church
Collect:
Give us grace, O Lord, to answer readily the call of our Savior Jesus Christ and proclaim to all people the Good News of his salvation, that we and all the whole world may perceive the glory of his marvelous works; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Eve of the Conversion of Saint Paul
We celebrate this Sunday the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which runs from the Feast of the Confession of Saint Peter (January 18) through the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul (January 25). As is our tradition during this week, we invite preachers from beyond the Anglican Communion in an act of kinship in our shared Christian faith, hope and love in Jesus Christ.
At Festal Evensong, we are very pleased to welcome Monsignor Robert T. Ritchie, a priest of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, who was ordained in 1971. Since 2006 he has been the rector of St. Patrick's Cathedral. Among his earlier assignments, he was pastor of the parishes of Our Lady of Angels and of St. Catherine of Genoa. He has been director of Catholic Charities' Department of Youth Services and executive director of the Catholic Youth Organization.
