Theology at Saint Thomas
The Adult Education program at Saint Thomas Church offers sound Christian teaching presented with intellectual vigor. Like the music offerings of the church, the education program moves us more deeply into the Christian faith and tradition while inviting non-members to come in. The program offers a variety of courses with special emphasis on the doctrine of God and the meaning of being human.
Classes meet every Sunday at 10am, and, much of the year, on a variety of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Be sure to check the Theology at Saint Thomas Calendar frequently.
Through April 2010, you will have the opportunity to take the popular Rector's Christian Doctrine Class, offered for fourteen Tuesday sessions that run through the end of April. This course is an excellent introduction to (or review of) the faith for anyone who wants a good grasp of basic Christian beliefs (such as God, creation, redemption) and Christian practices (such as prayer and sacraments). It is also particularly appropriate for those seeking to be confirmed and/or to join Saint Thomas Church. You may download a copy of the course leaflet here.
Also in this winter/spring season we have monthly seminars called "Good Books and Good Talk," and an extended study on Wednesday evenings of God's triune identity. Coming in April will be a course on science and theology: watch for further details.
Some classes have suggested outside reading, and usually the books are available in our bookstore, which is open most Sundays following the 11am and 4pm services.

I do not understand so that I may believe; rather, I believe so that I may understand. - St. Anselm
The Godhead is ineffable and incomprehensible....Nevertheless, God has not gone so far as to leave us in complete ignorance, for through the world the knowledge and existence of God has been revealed by him to all people. - St. John Damascene
