Choral Eucharist
Sunday January 24, 2010
11:00 am - Saint Thomas Church
Collect:
Give us grace, O Lord, to answer readily the call of our Savior Jesus Christ and proclaim to all people the Good News of his salvation, that we and all the whole world may perceive the glory of his marvelous works; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
We celebrate this Sunday the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which runs from the Feast of the Confession of Saint Peter (January 18) through the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul (January 25). As is our tradition during this week, we invite preachers from beyond the Anglican Communion in an act of kinship in our shared Christian faith, hope and love in Jesus Christ.
At our 11am Choral Eucharist, we are honored and delighted to have the Rev'd Dr. William G. Rusch, an esteemed patristics and ecumenical scholar in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. For several years he was director of Faith and Order of the National Council of Churches of Christ, U.S.A. He is currently a professor on the faculty of the Divinity School of Yale University. Among his many books is a recent edited volume, The Pontificate of Benedict XVI: Its Premises and Promises, published by Eerdmans.
