Theology update for the week of October 5

Dear friends in Christ

October will be a lovely month: on each of the Sundays of the month we will discuss one of T. S. Eliot’s Four Quartets in turn. The texts are online, but since I have my doubts about the legality of their posting, I will just say that if you don’t have a copy of the book you could google “Four Quartets” and you’ll probably find them. We won’t have handouts, so if you would like the text in hand, please bring it with you when you come to class. (These are great poems, and in my view they constitute one of the few volumes that everyone ought to own!)

The schedule is:

These Sunday classes are at 10 am on the 5th floor. There will be two “condensed” Thursday classes:

Each Thursday class is at 12:40 pm on the 2nd floor. And all the classes run about 40 minutes. You are welcome to come to any or all of them.

ALSO NEXT WEEK:

Divine Comedy Seminar
On Monday, October 6, I will lead a discussion of Dante’s Purgatorio, the second half (cantos 18-33). If you read the text you’re welcome to join us in Andrew Hall from 6:15 to 7:45 pm

Doctrinal Tuesdays
On Tuesday, October 7, I will have a close reading of some questions that Aquinas raises about what faith is. No advance preparation expected; newcomers welcome; Andrew Hall, 6:30 to 7:30 pm

Peace
