Theology Update for the Week of October 19

Sunday at 10 am I will turn to the third of the Four Quartets, “The Dry Salvages.” It begins with a river—perhaps the Mississippi, which flows past Eliot’s home town, St. Louis, and over which I must have flown yesterday. I don’t know if the river is a “strong brown god,” but I do know that these are poems that keep on giving, drawing us into the Christian mystery. We meet on the 5th floor on Sunday, and again I hope you will feel welcome to join the class.

A video of the Rowan Williams lecture, “Liturgical Humanism” (which was given at the end of September) has been posted on the Fordham website. You may watch the ceremony and lecture here. The lecture begins at about 19:30.
