Jesus is the Light of the World (John 3:14)

This week’s lesson was led by Mrs. Leslie Woodruff, who is a welcome addition to our team of Sunday School teachers. She summarized the lesson as follows:

‘As we continue our 40 day solemn walk toward the resurrection light of Easter, we learned how God rescued the Israelites out of slavery and led them through the desert to the Promised Land. The people were complaining because of the long walk, and had already forgotten God’s blessings. Until the people trusted God, they would not arrive to safety. In the end, the people said they were sorry for complaining, and God forgave the people because he loves us all so much. (Numbers 21:4-9).

We also read the appointed Gospel for today which reminds us that God loved the world so much that he sent his only son to die on the cross for us (John 3:14). The children sang “This Little Light of Mine” to the nursery toddlers, and were given little lights to take home to light up when they pray, and to remind them that Jesus is the light of the world.
