The Life of Moses

The Life of Moses

On Sunday May 27 at 10am the Sunday class explores Gregory of Nyssa’s The Life of Moses, written in the fourth century. In particular, the class considers Gregory’s notion of spiritual growth as a continual progress toward perfection, which is life with God. The class meets at 10 a.m. on the fifth floor of the parish house and is led by the Rev. Nathan Ritter.

Out of Egypt: Reading Exodus Theologically

On June 3, the Sunday class continues its study of the book of Exodus in the Old Testament. In addition to being a record of the central event in Jewish history – the exodus from Egypt and journey toward the Promised Land – Exodus also provides a prime case study of the benefits of a utilization of the traditional “four senses” of scripture: the literal, the typological, the moral, and the mystical.
