Theology Update for the Week of March 3

Sunday Theology Class

Sunday Theology Class. Our course of study and lively discussion entitled “The Seven Stories” continues this Sunday March 3 on the fifth floor of the Parish House. With the guidance of Fr. Matthew Moretz, we
will explore themes of the Holy Scriptures as they make their way to their radical conclusion in Jesus Christ. This week’s class will explore the viewpoint of the book of Deuteronomy and how it affects the
interpretation of the entire Bible. Coffee and tea are provided.

The “Pilgrims’ Course”

The Rector’s class will not meet on Tuesday, March 5, but will resume on Tuesday, March 12. Newcomers to Saint Thomas Church and those wishing to refresh their faith are invited to the course, a comprehensive introduction to the Christian faith as received and understood by the Episcopal Church. Please email Father Moretz at [email protected] to RSVP.

Biblical Justice

On Wednesday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m. in Andrew Hall, Professor Jeremy Waldron will conclude his popular series on “Biblical Justice,” focusing mainly on the concepts of judgment, justice and social justice in the writings of the prophets. This is an extension of the course, due to a cancellation of one of our classes because of inclement weather. We are grateful for Professor Waldron for making the time to complete the course under these circumstances. Everyone is welcome.

Lenten Devotional Study

Please join us for a devotional study time with Father Moretz in the living room of the parish house on Mondays in Lent from 12:45 to 2 p.m. Our time together will be guided by the book “Lent, with Evelyn Underhill” (Church Publishing), a series of theological meditations based on Lenten themes. This book is now available for purchase in the Saint Thomas Bookstore and Gift Shop. You are encouraged to bring your own bag lunch.

Bible Study

Bible study continues on Friday, March 8, at 12:45 p.m. on the second floor of the parish house. Everyone is welcome.
