SAINT THOMAS CHURCH FIFTH AVENUE NURSERY AND SUNDAY SCHOOL

Annual Family Picnic in Central Park

We were Blessed with a lovely sunny afternoon for our Annual Picnic. Once again it was a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together, and the children to play in the park.

Open House

This SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, we will host an OPEN HOUSE for Parishioners to discover more about NURSERY and SUNDAY SCHOOL, as well as our other events and classes throughout the year. Our participation is part of the Parish’s exciting Ministry Fair taking place after the 11am Mass.

This is an ideal occasion for you to bring your friends to church!
How can YOU help?

  1. SATURDAY – Join us in decorating the Sunday School and Nursery rooms on Saturday afternoon (September 28)
  2. SUNDAY – Help us host the Open House! We have fun opportunities to interact with the children and parishioners.
  3. SHARE YOUR TALENTS – Host future activities such as monthly Family Feasts, Pageant rehearsals, book displays or fundraisers during the year!

Faith Alive

Following up from the Confirmation course FAITH CONFIRMED, a new group has emerged: FAITH ALIVE, with a commitment to fellowship, learning, worship and service.

This NEW group for children and teens met last Sunday to plan events for the term. They also had a brief ‘behind the scenes’ tour as members of the church were preparing for the 11am Mass. This included meeting Ben Williams one of our Vergers, who showed us how incense is prepared for worship here at Saint Thomas Church.

Oh let my prayer rise before you like incense. Psalm 141:2

If you are 11+ and were Confirmed in May or are about to be Confirmed next year, this group is for you.

SAVE THE DATE for future youth gatherings:

    • OCTOBER 20
    • NOVEMBER 17
    • DECEMBER 15

Your Child’s Safety

Many of the children are very confident in navigating their way around the Parish House. However in the interests of safety of all our children, we ask that each child be brought by a parent or caregiver to Nursery or Sunday School for signing in each week.

We must reiterate that older and younger children must not leave the room or go to and from the church unaccompanied or go to the bathroom in the Nursery without permission.

Last Sunday

Our BANNER MAKING PROJECT is progressing well as children continue to combine their ideas using symbols relating to our faith and belonging to our church community.

Cole read us the Gospel for last Sunday around the theme of MAKING CHOICES. We went on to consider how as Followers of Jesus, we are asked to ‘Put God First’ over and above our material possessions.

Congratulations are extended to Amy and Mike on the birth fo their son, Owen Patrick Lee. Our prayers extend to you at this special family time.

We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday for worship and our OPEN HOUSE after the 11am Mass.
