News from Nursery and Sunday School for the Week of October 20

Faith Alive: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20 @10am

Behind the scenes: Preparing for Mass

Following up from the Confirmation course FAITH CONFIRMED, a new monthly group has emerged: FAITH ALIVE, with a commitment to fellowship, learning, worship and service. If you are 11+ and were Confirmed in May or are about to be Confirmed next year, this group is for you.

We meet next Sunday @ 10am.

Songs of Praise

The children began our time of worship learning some new Songs of Praise.

Ms. Leslie then led the children in a drama and reflection on the Gospel reading: Luke 17:11-19 Jesus and the Ten Lepers

Building on this theme of thankfulness, our weekly challenge is to think of ten things to be thankful for, starting with the beginning of each new day.

Save the Date

Our next Family Feast is on All Saints Sunday

Sunday, November 3, at 10am in the Living Rom of the parish house.

Volunteers needed

Thank you to a few families who have now expressed an interest in occasional volunteering with special events at Saint Thomas. There are many more ways that you can be involved in Children and Family Ministries at Saint Thomas Church! Rest assured, it does not have to be every week!

We are currently seeking parents who regularly attend Mass or Evensong to join our special working group as we explore plans for Children and Families in the coming year. This group will initially meet in November and then a few times throughout 2020.

Please let me know if you are interested in exploring being part of a working party for Children and Families at Saint Thomas. We value your input, as well as your child’s!

Halloween Candy

Families are invited to bring in any excess candy from All Hallows Eve to send to the troops. If you have any contributions of candy for this cause, please bring it to church by NOVEMBER 3. Thank you.

Communion Classes

Communion Classes resume in November in readiness for a special celebration of the Eucharist at Candlemas.

More details to follow next week.

Children and Families Working Group

As highlighted last week, we are currently seeking parents who regularly attend Mass or Evensong to join our special working group as we explore plans for Children and Families in the coming year. This group will initially meet in November and then a few times throughout 2020.

Please let me know if you are interested in exploring being part of a working party for Children and Families at Saint Thomas. We value your input, as well as your child’s!

We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday, when Fr. Bennett will be teaching.

Faithfully yours,

Mother Alison Turner
