Lent at Home

Last year some families participated in a Lenten program at home on the subject of Prayer. This year we will focus on Giving.

Collect your own booklet with ideas for observing Lent @ Home when you come on Sunday.

Each family is also invited to take home a Lenten collection box for our parish fundraiser towards “…the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund in Australia, as well as The Church of Santa Cecilia in Guánica and San Juan Apóstol in Yauco, Puerto Rico, both of which sustained damage during earthquakes last December. We will also support the Church of Saint Augustin Maniche in Haiti, which also sustained damage from natural disasters.”

Also in support of this collection, will have a used toy and book sale organized by our Senior Sunday School children.

Last Sunday

A BIG thank you to the Littlejohn family, who with a little help from their friends, as well as Jackie and the Hospitality staff, hosted a delicious Lenten Breakfast. Parishoners from the 9 am Mass were particularly pleased to be invited to participate in this month’s family feast.

Well done and thank you to Ms. FIona for the colorful Mardi Gras decorations throughout the Living room. They were so colorful!

“Last Sunday we discussed Jesus’ Transfiguration during a prayer retreat with Peter, James and John. While his disciples believed that he was indeed the Son of God, their faith was intensified after witnessing Jesus shine brighter than the sun and hearing the voice of God command them to “Listen to Jesus”.

As Christians we are called to shine our lights for God. The younger children crafted sparkling depictions of the Transfiguration, while the older children were challenged to consider what one aspect of Jesus that they find the most difficult to emulate (forgiving, generous, sympathetic, etc) and practice that Christ-like behavior during Lent.” (Ms.Leslie)

Coming Soon…

On March 7 and 8 we will be hosting our own training at Saint Thomas Church!

DIDDY DISCIPLES is an engaging resource for our youngest children to grow in faith and learn to worship as a family.

Founder Sharon Moughtin-Mumby will be leading the Saturday workshop (10am-3pm) and we welcome you to join in, along with our nursery staff, Sunday school volunteers, and local family ministries workers. Please let us know if you are interested in attending!

There will also be a lesson demonstration at 11am during Sunday School on
MARCH 8 to which parents are also welcome followed by a special coffee hour for families.

If you cannot attend these dates and wish to meet our guest you are also welcome to join us with on MARCH 5.

Happy St David’s Day (March 1)

I look forward to seeing many of you on Sunday, as we begin the journey of Lent together.

Faithfully yours,
Mother Alison Turner
