Video Webcast of the Solemn Eucharist for the Seventh Sunday of Easter (May 24, 2020)

An on-demand video webcast of the Solemn Eucharist for the Seventh Sunday of Easter at Saint Thomas Church is available on our website.

This service was prerecorded at the High Altar.

Fr. Moretz is the Celebrant, and the Rector is the Preacher.

The organist for the liturgy is our Associate Organist, Nicolas Haigh, who plays music by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750): Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr, BWV 663, and the Prelude in C, BWV 547/i.

The Mass is sung to the plainchant Missa Orbis Factor and Dr. Jeremy Filsell plays the psalm, Exurgat Deus, Psalm 68 (Let God arise and let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him) from the Suite Laudate Dominum by Peter Hurford (1930-2019).

The Choir archival recordings during the Offertory and Communion are Surrexit pastor bonus by Tomás Luis de Victoria (1548-1611), sung by the choir on April 29, 2012, and O Jesu Christ, meines Lebens Licht by J.S. Bach, taken from the liturgy on May 11, 2010. These were both sung under the direction of former Director of Music, John Scott.

After the concluding Memorial Prayer this morning, the singing of the National Anthem is taken from our Remembrance Sunday service held on November 10, 2019.

O God, the King of glory, who hast exalted thine only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph unto thy kingdom in heaven: we beseech thee, leave us not comfortless, but send to us thine Holy Ghost to comfort us, and exalt us unto the same place whither our Savior Christ is gone before; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the same Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.
