Dear Friends,

We are delighted to announce that The Very Rev. Dr. Michael Battle, the Herbert Thompson Professor of Church and Society at General Theological Seminary, will be delivering our 2020 Fall Theology Lecture. The lecture will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 pm ET on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, via Zoom.

The title of Prof. Battle’s lecture is “Desmond Tutu: A Saint for Our Times.” Prof. Battle will introduce us to Archbishop Tutu’s spiritual life and how it shaped his commitment to restorative justice and reconciliation.  Prof. Battle will also offer insights into how Archbishop Tutu was able to persevere against a system that opposed his own humanity.

Prof. Battle’s newest book, Desmond Tutu: A Spiritual Biography of South Africa’s Confessor, will be published by Westminster John Knox Press in March 2021.

To sign up for the lecture, please RSVP (You do not need to RSVP if you have already received the login information.)

For more information, please contact Fr. Patrick Cheng, Theologian in Residence.

Blessings,

Fr. Cheng
