This class, taught by Mother Meredith Ward explored the story of the Annunciation through art and Scripture (Luke 1:26-38), and offered an opportunity to deepen our understanding of this central event of our faith as we enter the season of Advent. The session began with a brief overview of how the imagery and iconography of the Annunciation developed and was used in popular worship. We then explored the practice of looking closely at images, and hearing Luke’s text read aloud, to engage more deeply with the message of this miraculous story, and what it means for us today.
