In this series, we are delighted to feature Gentleman of the Choir Charles Perry Sprawls (Bass-Baritone), accompanied by Organist Nicholas Haigh, performing repertoire that he has personally chosen.
Writes Mr. Sprawls:
My choices of repertoire, while rather eclectic, are inspired by a “wish list” from a longtime Saint Thomas Church parishioner who has supported this series. While the standard sacred and oratorio repertoire is generally well represented with recordings and public performances, many stand-alone, solo “gems” are often neglected, and over time forgotten. I’m happy to present some of these beautiful works, and hopefully stir some memories of a different era of sacred art song.
