Mother Alison Turner, Associate for Children and Families Ministry and Choir School Chaplain

Dear Friends,

As another school year draws to a close, I would like to express my thanks to all children and their families who have supported and participated in all our worship and activities, in person and on zoom over this past year. We look forward to sharing plans for the Fall in the coming weeks.

Thank you also to Ms. Gretchen Floyd on completion of her first year creatively coordinating Sunday School. A year that began with careful planning around the need for masks and distance, among with many other measures which we have all needed to juggle. We look forward to a more familiar pattern of learning, feasting and fellowship next season.

Thanks too to our musical leadership from Mrs. Rebecca Kellerman Filsell, and to Mr. Michael Cappiello and Ms. Pamela Lewis for coaching our acolytes and lectors. Thanks also to Mr. Maks Adach for his growing involvement in Choir rehearsals and Sunday worship, within the broader musical and liturgical life of the Church and Choir School. Our appreciation is also extended to Ms.Tracia Powell. It has been wonderful to have her here with our Nursery age children once again. Thank you also to, Ms. Leslie Woodruff and Mrs. Linda Morfi who have recently resumed preparing for Family Feasts and our recent Fruit of the Spirit Ceremony where we honored Mrs. Miranda Perkins and her family with a delicious Fruit of the Spirit ‘cake’.

Thank you, Miranda

I have another huge thank you to share, as we express our gratitude and bid Bon Voyage to the Perkins family who are about to move to England this summer.

As many of you know, Miranda Perkins has both led and assisted the Nursery and Sunday school at Saint Thomas Church for the last 11 years.

Her leadership has included overseeing multiple Nativity rehearsals and year long activities. Her dedication, flexible, supportive, and creative presence will be missed greatly. I will never forget her even managing Sunday Zoom ‘screen sharing’ from Spain last summer, with the children reading Bible lessons from their place in the sun!

Jack, Cole and Annabel have each played a key part in our many activities over the years including leading our 9am Sunday Service as lectors, acolytes and musicians.

We wish Miranda, Nick, Jack, Cole and Annabel Every Blessing in their new home. Know you always have a home with us here at Saint Thomas.

It was wonderful to have some special visitors, for Juneteenth and Fathers Day here last Sunday. Welcome back to Robyn, Rubie and Ryleigh who flew in from London to join us and help lead the 9am Mass.

Many families have now headed off on vacation and others are about to go. A shorter Friday newsletter will come to you each week with registration and Fall term becoming available in July.

Please do keep in touch over the summer. We would love to see your photos! Please also get in touch if you have any celebrations to share, or prayer requests.

May your summer by joyful, refreshing and fun!

 Faithfully yours,

 Mother Turner.
