Children and Families Ministry Update for the Week of November 2, 2025

Dear families,

This Sunday we celebrate All Saints with a family feast.

All Saints is sometimes called All Hallows (as in hallowed, holy, or saint) and falls on November 1st every year. In fact, the name Halloween comes from All Hallows Eve, which if you say fast enough turns to “A Halloween.”

All Saints was originally celebrated in the 4th Century to remember the martyrs of the Church who had been killed for their faith. Eventually the remembrance expanded to include other saints, and then to all saints, hence the name.

Saints are not just especially pious people, but those who especially point us to Jesus. Therefore, All Saints is not just about specific figures like Saint Paul or Saint Mary Magdalene. Rather, it is a day to celebrate anyone in your life, famous or unknown, whose life has drawn you to Jesus.

We look forward to seeing you on All Saints Sunday.

Grace and peace,

Father Preston
