Dear friends in Christ

This will be my last theology update for three weeks. I am going on vacation on June 2 and will, among other things, visit grandchildren in Phoenix, thus proving the old biblical proverb, Love is stronger than weather.*

Here, then, is what’s up:

Sunday, June 1, 10 am: yours truly on 2 Corinthians 6:11 and following. We meet on the 5th floor. Coffee and tea in the room.

Sunday, June 8, and Sunday, June 15, 10 am: Father Spurlock on “Birds in the Bible,” an introduction to ornitheology (!). He promises pictures. You might get him to mimic a birdcall, but he doesn’t tweet. (None of us clergy tweet. We’re incorrigible in that regard.) On the 5th floor. Coffee and tea in the room.

Thursday, June 19, 12:40 p.m: yours truly on 2 Corinthians, repeating the June 1 class. On the 2nd floor. Coffee and tea and iced water.

Visitors and newcomers are welcome to all the above classes.

Hell comes in July. Monday, July 21, 6:15 to 7:45 p.m.: The half-year seminar on the Divine Comedy begins with its first monthly discussion. It will be on the Inferno cantos 1-17. Anyone who reads the text is welcome to the discussion. I promise to minimize my Arizona first-hand observations about the temperature.

I’ll write again in three weeks.
