2015 Every Member Canvass Week 5 Update

The 2015 Every Member Canvass enters its fifth week on Sunday, November 2, and we need your support. Since 2007 the EMC has annually had between 642 and 703 pledges. Now Father Turner has challenged the parish to reach 1,000 pledges in the 2015 Canvass! We can meet this challenge but to do so, we need the support both of those who worship at Saint Thomas in the church and through the web. Each Sunday, when Father Turner greets parishioners in the church, he also welcomes those listening through the web. This is because we consider web listeners to be an important part of our parish family and this web family is growing rapidly. Did you know that:

  • In 2013, people visited our website approximately 300,000 times, a growth of thirty percent from 2010. There were website visits from over 180 countries and from all 50 states. New York City alone accounted for over 75,000 visits. Significantly fewer people now leave the site immediately after going to the home page. Instead they explore other pages of the web indicating that they are looking for content.
  • It is also good news that pages with webcasts were accessed over 80,000 times, almost double the number of 2010. In fact, more people listen to webcasts (live or on-demand) of our Sunday 11am liturgies than sit in the pews.

Our growing website has more users, more webcast sessions and fewer bounces. This is all very good news and only possible because the web is supported by the church’s operating budget. If you enjoy our website or listen to our services on the web, you are an important part of our community and we ask that you do your part to keep our ministry strong by supporting the 2015 Canvass.
