The 2015 Every Member Canvass enters its sixth week on Sunday, November 9. We are grateful to the many parishioners who have shown their loyalty to Saint Thomas by pledging to the 2015 Canvass. Canvass funds support the operating budget which underwrites so many of the things we take for granted at Saint Thomas – utilities, staff salaries, hymnals, candles and communion wafers and the list goes on, including everything needed to run the church and choir school.
The operating budget also supports Saint Thomas’s generous outreach to others. One such program is the Soup Kitchen, our lay ministry to the homeless in our New York Community. Since the founding of the Soup Kitchen in 1984, volunteers gather every Saturday morning to prepare and pack approximately 300 bag lunches. These lunches are then distributed on foot along six routes in mid-Manhattan between 11:00am and 12:30pm. Last year, approximately 15,000 lunches were prepared and distributed.
Please pledge as generously as possible to the 2015 Every Member Canvass and support Saint Thomas and its important outreach programs.
