Bach's Saint Matthew Passion

In case you missed the Boys of Saint Thomas Choir in October’s sold-out performances of J.S. Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion at the Armory, you have another opportunity to hear them tonight–this time in the Gothic splendor of Saint Thomas Church. John Scott conducts the Saint Matthew Passion sung by The Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys accompanied by the period instrument orchestra, Concert Royal. Rufus Müller sings the role of the Evangelist—the Times praised his performance: “(he) performed from memory, sang with dramatic conviction and shaded the text with a vivid range of contrasts.” Douglas Williams as Jesus, soprano Sherezade Panthaki, countertenor Jay Carter, tenor Lawrence Jones and bass Jesse Blumberg offer dramatic solo performances as well.

Friends of Music receive priority seating, complimentary tickets and other benefits. We could not perform these choral masterpieces without the support of our donors, as the cost of hiring the finest soloists and orchestras greatly exceeds our ticket sales revenue.

We look forward to welcoming you.
