Icon depicting the Emperor Constantine and the bishops of the First Council of Nicaea (325)

In this series examining the Christian theological tradition, we look at the four ecumenical councils of the Church, as they sought to articulate orthodox Christian belief. Today we turn to the First Council of Constantinople (A.D. 381).
