Seminar on Dickens's "A Christmas Carol"

Monday, January 11, 2010
6:15 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.

Have you ever had a good talk on that good book, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens? What more pleasant a read could there be for you to undertake in this season after Christmas Day? The “Good Books and Good Talk” seminar will discuss A Christmas Carol on Monday, January 11, at 6:15 p.m. If you’ve read the book, you’re welcome to the conversation.

The “Good Books & Good Talk” seminar meets about once a month. It is a true seminar, in that Father Austin asks an opening question and then the participants carry on the discussion. The text is the authority, and no specialized knowledge or reading outside the text is expected. Anyone who has read the assigned book is welcome to attend. Attendance has varied from the low teens to as many as 30 people.

Future books (all sessions on Mondays, 6:15 to 7:45 p.m.)

February 22: Anthony Burgess, A Clockwork Orange
March 22: Sara Maitland, Stations of the Cross
April 12: Walker Percy, Love in the Ruins
