Almighty God, we remember before you this day the blessed martyrs of New Guinea, who, following the example of their Savior, laid down their lives for their friends, and we pray that we who honor their memory may imitate their loyalty and faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
We’ll continue our close exploration of the Book of Signs (1:19 through chapter 12). As we journey through the richness of John’s language and imagery, we’ll continue to consider some questions together: For whom is the Fourth Gospel written? What is this Gospel’s project or mission? Who is Jesus in the Fourth Gospel? What is the Gospel’s vision of the Church? What are the Gospel’s recurring images and themes?
