The Second Sunday Of Advent

The Second Sunday Of Advent

Merciful God, who sent thy messengers the prophets to preach repentance and prepare the way for our salvation: Give us grace to heed their warnings and forsake our sins, that we may greet with joy the coming of Jesus Christ our Redeemer; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the HolySpirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. | Parish House, 5th Floor

Dear Friends in Christ,

Canon Nancy Hoxsie Mead

Today we welcome Canon Nancy Hoxsie Mead  as our guest speaker.  Canon Mead is the Vice President of the Friends of the Anglican Pilgrim Centre in Santiago, a lay canon in the Spanish Episcopal Church, and the wife of Fr. Andrew Mead, the XII Rector of Saint Thomas Church.

Canon Mead will be speaking about an important project to build an Anglican Pilgrim Centre in Santiago de Compostela in Spain.  Each year, more than a quarter of a million people walk a part of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, which was the third holiest site in Christendom during the Middle Ages, after Jerusalem and Rome.

To this day, however, there is still no place for Anglican and other Protestant pilgrims to gather and celebrate the Holy Eucharist in community.  Canon Mead’s work with the Friends of the Anglican Centre in Santiago is dedicated to fulfilling the dream of building an Anglican Pilgrim Centre that will offer eucharistic hospitality to people of all Christian denominations.

The class will meet on the fifth floor of the parish house, and coffee and tea will be provided.  Please mark your calendars and come learn about this important project.

Blessings,

Fr. Cheng
Theologian in Residence
