The Second Sunday Of Easter

The Second Sunday Of Easter

Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery hast established the new covenant of reconciliation: Grant that all who have been reborn into the fellowship of Christ's Body may show forth in their lives what they profess by their faith; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

11:00 a.m.

The 11am Eucharist is typically the best-attended worship service at Saint Thomas each week. It is at this service that you not only will experience the full power of liturgy, music and preaching at Saint Thomas, but also will have the opportunity to meet many parishioners in the pews. Coffee hour follows the service.

Today’s Eucharist is “festal” because we celebrate the Second Sunday of Easter. If you attend the service in person, you’ll notice the gold vestments. There is also incense during the Offertory. Included during worship are hymns sung by the congregation and choir, additional music sung exclusively by the choir, lessons, prayers, a sermon, and a Rite I Mass. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion.

Because our choristers and (most of) the gentlemen of our choir are on holiday (after a busy Holy Week and Easter Day), our visiting choir today is New York Polyphony. We write “most of” because, well…there is indeed overlap between the gents of our choir and the musicians of New York Polyphony. Small world, this world.

Details of the service may be seen in the leaflet, which is posted at the bottom of this page.
