This mix of twentieth century sacred and secular music begins with Copland’s famous setting of the opening words of the Book of Genesis and ends with the very last verse of the Bible, ‚ÄúThe grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, Amen‚Äù set by Carl R√ºtti. Eric Whitacre’s rock-star quality shines through in his Three Songs of Faith. And the legendary pianist and composer George Shearing encapsulates ‚Äúcreation‚Äù with his undeniably American jazz influence in his Songs and Sonnets from Shakespeare.
‚ÄúI consider [George Shearing] one of the greatest musical minds I’ve ever been around‚Ķ‚Äù Dave Brubeck
