Theodore of Tarsus

Theodore of Tarsus

Almighty God, who didst give thy servant Theodore of Tarsus gifts of grace and wisdom to establish unity where there had been division and order where there had been chaos: Create in thy church, we pray thee, by the operation of the Holy Ghost, such godly union and concord that it may proclaim, both by word and example, the Gospel of the Prince of Peace; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

6:15 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.

Quick plotline: world-famous architect voluntarily runs away from world-famous life by moving to a leper colony in the Congo.

Fr Austin wrote in one of his weekly theology updates: While I was away [on vacation], I read again Graham Greene’s A Burnt-out Case. What can I say in praise of this novel? It’s about a mysterious (we learn later world-famous) man who is burnt-out, finds some peace in a desolate hospital for lepers, and yet is not understood. The religious people often seem clueless; the irreligious oddly faithful.

Anyone who has read the book is welcome to the discussion.
