Above: The center stone, set into the floor of the chancel at Saint Thomas Church on December 29, 1974, is from the Canterbury site of the martyrdom of Saint Thomas Becket on that same date in 1170. We simply call it “The Canterbury Stone,” and it is located atop the steps that lead from the floor of the nave to the choir level of the chancel, directly in front of where the cr√®che is placed during Christmastide.
