The first Book of Common Prayer was largely the work of Thomas Cranmer. We have many images of him at Saint Thomas, in stained glass and in the reredos. Above, we see him in a group of nine prominent figures of Anglican/Episcopal Church history. From left to right are William Temple (Archbishop), John Mason Neal (priest and hymn writer), Lancelot Andrewes (Bishop), Thomas Cranmer (Archbishop), Edward the Confessor (at center), Samuel Provoost (Bishop), John Henry Hobart (Bishop), Henry Codman Potter (Bishop), and William Reed Huntington (priest, Sixth Rector of Grace Church).
