O God of compassion, who didst open the heart of thy servant Thomas Bray to answer the needs of the church in the New World: Make thy church diligent at all times to propagate the Gospel and to promote the spread of Christian knowledge; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
In today’s Gospel according to Matthew, the Pharisees are peeved that Jesus is hanging around sinners, and Jesus responds, “They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.” Today’s Lenten Meditation is based on a similar account from the Gospel according to Luke.
