SEVEN LAST WORDS FROM THE CROSS
(New York Premiere) – James MacMillan
Widely admired as one of Scottish composer James MacMillan’s finest achievements, a masterful setting of the traditional text based on a compilation from all four gospels to form a sequential presentation of the last seven sentences uttered by Christ.
‘‚Ķwhat riches there are for those who scale these heights. MacMillan’s conviction in this music, stemming from his deep faith, is passionately obvious and could not leave anyone unmoved by this experience.’ Paul Spicer

Renowned for his fine musicianship, David Hill is widely respected as both a choral and orchestral conductor. He is Chief Conductor of The BBC Singers, Musical Director of The Bach Choir, Southern Sinfonia and Leeds Philharmonic Society, Associate Guest conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Principal Conductor of Yale Schola Cantorum. His previous posts have included Master of Music at Winchester Cathedral and Westminster Cathedral, Associate Conductor and then Artistic Director of the Philharmonia Chorus and Director of Music at St John’s College, Cambridge. David Hill’s broad-ranging discography of over 80 recordings includes many award-winners and his commitment to new music has led to him premiering works by several leading composers.
