A video of the 2021 Spring Theology Lecture, “Opera and Christianity: Grace, Faith, and Miracles,” which was delivered via Zoom on Tuesday, April 20th, is available above.
Our lecturer was Ms. Desirée Mays, the renowned lecturer with the Metropolitan Opera. Ms. Mays explored the deep connections between opera and the Christian faith. Topics included grace, faith, and miracles. Operas discussed included Messiaen’s Saint François d’Assise, Pizzetti’s Murder in the Cathedral, Massenet’s Thaïs, and Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites.
