The Sunday Of The Resurrection: Easter Day

The Sunday Of The Resurrection: Easter Day

Almighty God, who through thine only-begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened unto us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord's resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by thy life-giving Spirit; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the same Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

11:00 a.m.

Above: The 11am Easter Day Opening Procession weaves its way through the nave. You can see the choir coming down an aisle on the right side.

We would be delighted if you decide to worship with us on Easter Morning. Easter is the reason for our existence; there would be no church, no Christian faith, and no hope without the resurrection. Everyone is invited!

About logistics: Be advised that at the 11am Solemn Eucharist we are usually full to capacity, and those who arrive late may not be able to find seats. So, we kindly suggest that you consider following the example of the women who arrived at the break of dawn at the empty tomb. Early is good.

If you want to attend the 11am Liturgy, we’d suggest arriving by 10am to secure a good seat. You will not be able to find a seat before 9:30am, because the 8am service will not have ended yet.

Speaking of the 8am Solemn Eucharist, you might also consider coming at 8am instead of 11am. It is the exact same worship service, but without the lines. Another alternative, if you prefer a shorter service, is Solemn Evensong at 3pm. It is preceded by an organ recital by Benjamin Sheen. If you arrive by 2:30pm, you’ll not only be able to hear the entire recital, but you’ll have a good seat for Evensong.

In the end, whether you join us at the 11am Eucharist, or at some other other point during the day, we hope you join us in praise of our risen Lord on Easter Day, or at some other time very soon.

We wish you a most joyous and happy Easter.

‚ñ∫If you are new to Saint Thomas and want to learn more, or if you are interested in baptism or membership, don’t hesitate to contact us to set up a time to meet in person. We would like to get to know you.
