Almighty and everliving God, who, of thy tender love towards mankind, hast sent thy Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon him our flesh, and to suffer death upon the cross, that all mankind should follow the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant that we may both follow the example of his patience, and also be made partakers of his resurrection; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The morning services on Palm Sunday opened with great fanfare: the blessing of the palms and Christ’s triumphant entry into Jersulam. The services ended with Christ Crucified. The morning services of Palm Sunday are designed, then, to take the worshipper through all of Holy Week in one sitting.
Beginning with Solemn Evensong on Palm Sunday, and extending throughout this most holy of weeks, we reverently and deliberately unpack all that was packed into the 11am Palm Sunday liturgy, worshipping daily so that together we can meditate on these great, redemptive mysteries. And so we invite you to join us for choral liturgies each day this week, either in person or via live webcasts, especially on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the triduum. If ever there is a week to hand over yourself and your time to worship your savior, this is it.

About Choral Evensong: Based on the services held daily in the medieval Church, Choral Evensong as arranged in the Book of Common Prayer of the Anglican Church has been sung regularly since the Sixteenth Century. Many people who are new to worship at Saint Thomas prefer to come to Choral Evensong because it is relatively contemplative. The service includes readings (just as would occur at Evening Prayer) and prayers led by a priest. An anthem as well as a setting of the Magnificat and the Nunc dimittis are sung by the choir.
