Consecration of Samuel Seabury
We give thanks to thee, O Lord our God, for thy goodness in bestowing upon this church the gift of the episcopate; and we pray that, joined together in unity with our bishops and nourished by thy holy sacraments, we may proclaim the Gospel of redemption with apostolic zeal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Tom Bair performs the full text of the Gospel of Saint Mark. The compelling immediacy and directness of Mark’s narrative is brought to life by hearing the gospel in one sitting, in the same manner as the earliest followers of Jesus. The Episcopal Journal calls this performance “a riveting journey” and “a brilliant and inspirational experience.” On Thursday, November 15, at 10 a.m., in Andrew Hall, Mr. Bair leads a seminar exploring the overall effect of the gospel by examining its narrative structure and literary forms.
