Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday

Almighty and everlasting God, who hatest nothing that thou hast made and dost forgive the sins of all those who are penitent: Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Each month, Father Turner records an audio message which is a personal theological reflection on a particular topic. Sometimes it is about the season or festival being celebrated at Saint Thomas Church, sometimes a reflection on the life of the church in other parts of the world and at other times something that is in the news. These messages are posted toward the beginning of each month. Be sure to check latest news for updates.

The Rector’s Reflection for March 2017

In his Lenten reflection, Canon Turner explores how Lent is truly a joyful season and, as ash is the same chemical composition as a diamond, so our journey in Lent is towards the transforming glory of God.
