The Tudor Prayer Books: 1549, 1552, and 1559

Sunday, October 6, 2019
The Seventeenth Sunday After Pentecost
10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.

Today Fr. Cheng  continues a three-part series on “The Tudor Prayer Books: 1549, 1552, and 1559.” The series will examine the Books of Common Prayer promulgated under Edward VI and Elizabeth I, and, in particular, how these liturgical texts shed light on key theological debates of the English Reformation. Last Sunday focused on the Prayer Book of 1549 and the liturgical contributions of Thomas Cranmer. Today’s class focuses on the Prayer Book of 1552 and the incorporation of additional Protestant theological principles into that work.
