Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday

Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday

Almighty and everliving God, who, of thy tender love towards mankind, hast sent thy Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon him our flesh, and to suffer death upon the cross, that all mankind should follow the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant that we may both follow the example of his patience, and also be made partakers of his resurrection; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

For every Sunday of the year (and for a number of other days as well), the Book of Common Prayer provides a special prayer, known as the “collect.” While some of these prayers are recent compositions, many of them go back to the early Christian centuries and were put into elegant English by Thomas Cranmer (pictured above). This class will introduce the classic collect form, and will then look at many of the collects, drawing out from them an implicit and distinctive Anglican theology.

This class on the collects will be offered every Sunday through Palm Sunday at 10am on the fifth floor of the parish house. In addition, it will be repeated on most Mondays at 12:40pm on the second floor. Each class lasts 40-45 minutes Please access the theology calendar for exact dates and times for all theology classes at Saint Thomas.
