The Tudor Prayer Books: 1549, 1552, and 1559

On September 29, October 6, and October 13 at 10 a.m., on the fifth floor of the parish house, Fr. Cheng will teach a three-part series on “The Tudor Prayer Books: 1549, 1552, and 1559.” The series will examine the Books of Common Prayer promulgated under Edward VI and Elizabeth I, and, in particular, how these liturgical texts shed light on key theological debates of the English Reformation.

The class on September 29 will focus on the Prayer Book of 1549 and the liturgical contributions of Thomas Cranmer. The class on October 6 will focus on the Prayer Book of 1552 and the incorporation of additional Protestant theological principles into that work.
