Wulfstan of Worcester
Wulfstan of Worcester
Almighty God, whose only-begotten Son led captivity captive and gave gifts to your people: Multiply among us faithful pastors, who, like your holy bishop Wulfstan, will give courage to those who are oppressed and held in bondage; and bring us all, we pray, into the true freedom of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Please note: A webcast of this lecture is accessible at the bottom of this page.
In this public lecture, Father Austin gives reasons to believe that authority should not always be questioned, that in fact authority is necessary for us to flourish as human beings. Nonetheless, authorities manifestly err: what shall we say about that? The lecture does not presuppose any particular study of the topic, and it is open to the public.
Those wishing to dig more deeply into the topic may wish to join the class, which begins the following Tuesday, January 26, also at 6:30pm in Andrew Hall. The class meets for six consecutive Wednesday evenings.
