Sunday School and Nursery News for the Week of January 19, 2020

Last Sunday

The children enjoyed the Epiphany Family Feast, as well as seeing themselves on the big screen as they watched a slide show of our December pageant. Thank you to Mrs. Morfi, Jackie and her team for preparing this once again.

We learned about the meaning of Epiphany as Jesus revelation to the world, we then listened to Fr. Bennett sharing our second Gospel reading, wherein Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. We then recalled a number of bible stories involving water and the children were given the challenge of finding more in readiness of this Sunday. We also considered how many times water (or water derivatives) are mentioned in the bible and to our surprise we discovered that one scholar has actually found 722!

The younger children focused on the symbols, words and actions we still find in the baptism service today. Meanwhile the older children prepared a drama depicting Jesus’ first miracle in Cana of Galilee, when he turned water into wine. They all enjoyed sharing their play with everyone before joining their families for Mass.
