Good Friday

Almighty God, we beseech thee graciously to behold this thy family, for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be betrayed, and given into the hands of sinners, and to suffer death upon the cross; who now liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Rev. Dr. Luigi Gioia, our own Theologian in Residence, offered meditations on the Seven Last Words of Christ during the Three Hours’ Meditation on Good Friday 2023. You can and access audio and video versions of the meditations below. If you would like a transcript, Fr. Gioia plans to publish the meditations as a book.

A verse of Venantius’ Pange Lingua, sung by the Gentlemen of the Choir, precedes each meditation.
