Here are our current classes:
What God Said to Job–and the wisdom Job gained—will be the topic of the final classes in the Bible study on this amazing book.
- There will be two more Sunday classes at 10am, picking up at chapter 40 on January 19.
- There will be two more Thursday classes at 12:40pm, picking up at chapter 40 on January 23.
You are welcome to come to either, or to move back and forth—whatever works with your schedule. As you can see, we will come to the end of the book of Job at the end of this month, and a new study will begin on Sunday, February 2.
The Rector’s Christian Doctrine Class has begun. The topic on January 21 is “God the Son: Incarnation and Atonement.” The class meets in Andrew Hall from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and if you’re interested in the topic you are welcome to come.
Ethical Wednesdays will start January 29 with a four-session course on Christian Ethics: A Guide for the Perplexed. Father Austin will lead the discussion in Andrew Hall at 6:30 p.m. For the first session, the assignment is chapters 1 and 2.
Christians Readings Greeks, a series of seminars on first Mondays, will begin February 3 with the following selections from Homer’s Iliad: Books 1, 6, 9, 16, 18 (to line 371 only), 22, and 24. Although jumpy, these selections give the basic story of Achilles and his anger. Participants may read any translation. The discussion will be in Andrew Hall from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m.

As I wrote last week, Father Mead has invited as our guest preacher for this Sunday (in the week of prayer for Christian unity) the Reverend Joseph Lienhard, S.J., professor of theology at Fordham University. Here again is the link to Father Lienhard’s fall theology lecture given here in 2011, “A Church Without a Bible? The Emergence of the New Testament”: This Sunday, January 19, he will be preaching at both the 11am and 4pm services.
